THIS COULD BECOME ADDICTIVE!

This could become addictive...crocheting! I was asked by the knitting shop where I'm working to teach a class. Yes, you heard right! Teach a class...I'm a little nervous...never taught anything before...never really crocheted before. Okay, who hasn't made a 'granny square or too'? But, to actually read a pattern and to make something from it and then teach it. EEEK! I'm gasping...I said sure I'll do that!
I brought home the pattern, the beautiful Tahiki 'Cotton Classic' yarn and off I went. And, guess what? I even surprised myself. I DID IT! I read the pattern ever so carefully and actually created the scarf. I'm just working on the border and joining stitches now. I'm hoping to get this scarf completed and to the shop tomorrow. Can you believe it?....me teaching a class!

Here are the makings of the 'Hexagon Scarf'.

If you look closely, you can see the scarf made up in the magazine photo.

I'm so excited that I actually was able to read a crochet pattern. I'm making another scarf in different colors. See....I said it was addictive.

I've fallen in love with a new yarn...Tahki 'Cotton Classic'.

The colors of this yarn are beautiful...it's so hard to go to the shop to actually work! But, it does support my growing habit!

*******

Wishing you all a happy week ahead!

I'm with you, the colors are BEAUTIFUL! And you are perfectly suited for teaching - you're very patient. Good for you! I wish I was there so I could be a student of yours.

Alice, I can see the scarf in the magazine...it is just beautiful. I love all your colorful pieces.

Congrats on teaching a class where you work. Don't worry, you will do fine. The first time I taught, I was nervous but it worked out just great and seeing the enthusiasm and happines that the students showed over the results, kept me wanting to teach more. You will do great.

This is going to be such an amazing scarf! Crochet looks so hard to me! i've certainly never attempted granny squares! Good luck with the class, I am sure you'll make a great teacher!

So it isn't too hard?
The colors are like ice cream and just so pretty! I walked up and down the yarn aisle the other day and did a lot of touching!

Crocheting is on my list of things to learn. I've resisted starting it as I suspected it might be addicting. There are so many crafting endeavors to which I've become addicted that I wish there was some program out there to get me under control.

I think you'd make a fabulous teacher and everyone would enjoy being in your class.

Love the granny squares. Is that 100% cotton yarn? I have a problem with wool, so that would be my kind of yarn!

Of course you can teach a class! Go for it!

I just love making grannies and I too am addicted to crocheting. I'm working on a scarf now with a repeating pattern and beads. It will be so pretty. I love working with cotton yarn. I will have to try the yarn you are working with here. I went to your Etsy store too and clicked you as a favorite. Lovely stuff there.

Those yarns are simply yummy! I can see why you are drawn into such a lovely hobby, and your work is very pretty. My grandmother did beautiful crochet, but mine was not-so-nice. I do much better with simple cross stitch or crewel.

I'll be anxious to see your creations!

Good luck with your classes

Hi! I am so happy that I found your blog! It is a beautiful and inspiring blog and I have enjoyed reading it. Your scarf is looking awesome! Beautiful colors! I too love to crochet! I was taught to crochet when I was a teen. An elderly lady in my neighborhood taught me. I had also always wanted to learn to knit, but did not learn until just a few years ago. I enjoy both so much! I am sure that you will be a wonderful teacher! Good for you! Have fun with it!
