A Room With a View...

A ROOM WITH A VIEW.....
Just a small qlimpse into my house. This is my living room, looking out the front window.
I love the way that my front window frames the tree across the street.
It was a beautiful day, and my husband was testing his camera's for an up and coming photo shoot.
When he has a shoot coming up, the whole house becomes his studio. I just like the way
that this shot came out...it captures the essence of my home I think!
I hope that you find it warm and inviting.
Thank you for visiting!

On my work table...

Socks are now on the work table...along with a few various other on-going projects. This is a new yarn that I'm trying out ...wool & cashmere. Very soft! The pattern requires that I use five double pointed needles...a lot of needles to handle at one time. As I was working on finishing the last sock today, I suddenly realized that working with so many different needles is a lot like life. We weave so many different things into our lives at one time...weaving in and out, under and over, again and again. I sometimes become so overwhelmed with the thought of all I'm manipulating in my life! I have to just stop and consider my knitting. That with time, and much weaving in and out, I will accomplish it all in the end. It just takes a little time...one stitch at a time!
So many needles...

Ms. Coco with Skinny Scarves....

It's skinny scarf time....I'm knitting skinny scarves to place in my hairdressers shop to sell. (Of course, in my ever never ending...'these aren't good enough, who would buy these, and on, and on, and on. Can you tell I have no self-confidence?) I finally made some skinny scarves that can be used three ways....around your head as a style'n hair band, around your neck as a zippy neck scarf, or for those who might have thin hips....a great looking wrap belt. These little scarves are being modeled today by Ms. Coco (at least that's her name today)! Hopefully, these will be a big hit with the patrons of the shop...(and my confidence will get a boost)!

THE BEGINNING....work in progress! This is a beautiful linen yarn!

Presenting....Ms. Cocoa modeling a full view of four stylish scarves!

A Closer view...Ms. Coco is modeling two scarves
on her head as headbands...and two around her
her long lovely neck as stylish accents.

A view of the detailed beaded fringe!

A profile view, of the lovely Ms. Coco!

ALL GLAMMED UP FOR A FANTASTIC EVENING OUT!

Sister...

Dear Sister,
Have I told you lately, you are my best friend?

I made this pillow awhile ago about my sister. I don't tell her often enough how much she means to me. As siblings often do, while growing up we sometimes didn't get along; but we never stopped loving one another. As adults, we have lived most of our lives separated by distance. Since moving to Utah, we now only live about 10 miles from each other and can now truely be sisters. It's a nice feeling to know that we can now meet for lunch or have a fun day out shopping on a whim. There is a special bond that we sister's have, it is just something that cannot be explained. It's nice to have a sister.... it means that I have a best friend for life!
(I'm the little sister in the picture.)

Check out the other pillow in the background....that's one I made for my mother-in-law who recently passed away. The picture I used was a picture of her five children. She loved this pillow, my husband brought this home after her passing. It is now displayed on our bed and is a nice reminder of family and how precious time with family is.

A Busy Day...

A VERY BUSY DAY INDEED!
This weekend was a busy one. My husband and I ventured out to the one of the many areas that features a Farmer's Market. We returned with a bushel of peaches, two dozen sweet corn and a very large bag of green beans. After preparing the beans and corn, they were promptly put in the freezer. Then I started to tackle the peaches. My first time canning peaches...I think it's easier to go to the store and buy a jar or two, but then again it would not be nearly the fun.
Well, I keep telling myself it was fun? The peaches will be used for the winter, when nothing will satisfy as a warm peach cobbler.

This is the partially filled box of peaches, I had already prepared half when I took the picture. They look yummy don't they?

The pre-canning stage........mmmmm, what fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, the finished product. I think these will make lovely peach cobblers this winter!
Once the peaches were complete, I tackled the zucchini from our garden.

From this......to this......

Okay, I think I've worked in the kitchen long enough. In addition to the canning, I baked two loaves of banana bread from some very over ripe bananas. Monday brought more canning of the zucchini....zucchini is another story. Our garden is over run by zucchini.

Our very small garden, which produces sooooooo much!!!!! Gotta love it!!!!!!!!!
There is certainly much more zucchini to can or bake with, but for today I am only working on
creative things in my room. I need a break from the garden and the kitchen!
Tomorrow, more zucchini cannning and perhaps a loaf or two of zucchini bread!

One Baby Beanie, Two Baby Beanies.....

Lilly is checking out the Baby Beanie's!

Finally the baby blanket and beanie's are done. I thought I would never get done with the blanket! I made this blanket and set of beanies for my new grandchild due the end of August. The doctor's have assured us that it will be a boy, he will join his three and half year old sister when he arrives. The blanket has small stripes knitted every few rows; I used a lime-green, yellow, blue and orange. Since there was a lot of colored yarn left over, I decided to add some baby beanies. I love the little beanies...they are so cute. Now onto new projects...I still have many pending. (That means they have been started, but are not complete.) Also, need to start making a few items for Lisa's shop. Hopefully the items I make will be well received and many orders will follow. We'll see!

I'ts a beautiful day...

What a beautiful day! The sun is out, the birds are about and there is a breeze of fall in the air. I am anxious for the cooler days, but for now I will enjoy the sunflowers which pop their heads above the fence. I will enjoy what the warmer weather has brought which is an abundant garden and a vegetable garden that is full to the brim with wonderful blossoms that will bring food to family and friends. Enjoy the day, it is short and tomorrow is only a distant image!

It's a Grand Day...

This is Lilly, my loveable cat. She is just sizing up the world perched atop the fence in the backyard. I believe she thinks it's going to be a great day!

Sooo much has happened...

It has been an eternity since I last blogged. Dean is back home, things are getting back to normal once again. He was gone over 5 weeks, too long indeed. He was where he needed to be though, with his mother and family. His mother passed on, but was surrounded by family and loved ones to the bitter end. What a grand lady she was! She should be proud of her family as they rallied around her and so gently cared for her in those last few days. Surely she is smiling from above and realizing what a wonderful family she raised indeed.

How serene it is that life changes make us so much more aware of how short life really is! You are always reminded of how we must love those around us just a little harder; and enjoy our surroundings even down to the smallest creature it holds. One should be amazed every day of everything we come into contact with...it is an amazing journey we travel.
