...On the road

Yesterday my mother and I made the last treck of the 'Fiber Frolics' road trip. We ventured up to Logan, Utah to visit the Cache Valley. What a beautiful ride it is once you are off the interstate and on Route 89. It's a beautiful drive from Brigham City through the canyon to the Cache Valley. Given that we were on a limited time table for the day, we were unable to visit the sights of the Cache Valley. We will definitely return to spend some quality time in the area.
The yarn shop in Logan had just moved and they were in the mist of setting up and getting ready for their grand opening. None the less, I was able to locate two balls of sock yarn and some beautiful hand dyed wool. I would love to go back and see the store once it is officially up and running. This is a store that also has spinning and other supplies. I would love to see the spinning, my secret desire is to have a sheep or two and spin my own yarn. (Yea, like that's really going to happen living in the city!) Do you think I have enough sock yarn - I just love yarn! My sock yarn basket, it's overflowing. Guess I'll need a larger basket!

We continued on our quest and saw two more shops, one in Ogden and the other in Bountiful. We have one more on our quest, and we will hit that one tomorrow since we have to turn in our passports by Saturday. It has been a fun trip and we have enjoyed finding different shops and seeing some of the sights of Utah.

Another day of rest?

Okay, today is Sunday and it suppose to be my day of rest. Though I haven't done too much, I must proclaim that I have done three loads of laundry, watered my newly planted plants in my fairy garden and I had to go shopping for a new computer carrying case with my hubby! Well, I would say that thus far, not too much has been done.

My husband is getting ready for another trip to his home state of Minnesota. (His third in about six months). Since he works at home and is able to travel with his business at hand, he has been staying from 3 - 4 weeks at a time. His mother has been ill, and thankfully he has been able to go back to Minnesota to spend some much needed time with her. I'm afraid though that this trip will be the last. He is sad, I am sad and again we will be apart! This trip is expected to be approximately 4 - 6 weeks. A long time to be without him, but I know in my heart where he belongs right now; and that is at his mother's side.

Perhaps while he is gone this trip, I will try to get all those pesty things done that just don't ever seem to get done. The first thing that comes to mind is knitting of course! I do hope to get the house windows cleaned, more planting in the garden, catch up on paperwork, reading and most of all knitting! I do need to complete that quilt I had started for my daughter about a year ago, okay it was more than a year ago. So the quilt it is...I will finish the quilt before I tackle any of those other pesty jobs. Well, I'm sure a little knitting in between sewing won't hurt!

Having fun...

My mother and I are having fun seeking out all of the fiber and knitting shops on the 'First Annual Fiber Frolic'. We hoping to win something - perhaps the grand prize? Actually, it's been quiet fun just visiting all the shops on the list. We getting familiar with new areas and new shops all the way from Logan to Provo. There have been a few special ones on the list that have caught our eye and we will surely revisit them.

We have four more on the list to tackle before June 16th, I think that we will make it. We have it planned to visit the three stores from Logan to Salt Lake perhaps on Saturday. We are trying to get my husband to join us on the venture. We'll see! It's been fun and exciting so far, and I've even got my mom interested in knitting a scarf. She made her purchase yesterday and is excited to get started. I hope her interest will continue, you know it's addictive once one starts!

After a northern storm came in last night, today is just my kind of day. Cool and rainy! Love it!
These are days that I just love to spend in my creation room - hopefully today I'll finish that second dreaded sock!

A day of rest....

Sunday...a day of rest! I have officially declared Sunday as our day of rest! No work, just rest and working on lost creations that need to be completed. Therefore, I have picked up a couple of small knitting creations that have been left undone. I'm trying hard to complete a new pair of socks...I love knitting socks and recently took a class on how to incorporate pattern work into ones own knitted socks. The first sock came out quiet well, now I am on to the second sock of the pair. As all knitters know this is called the 'second sock syndrome'. I'm almost ready to start the heel so progress is being made. I also have one beanie cap for my husband that I'm working on, surely I will have this completed by winter. And, there is the beautiful lace scarf that has been grabbing my attention for sometime now, I just can't seem to get to the end of it. Last, but not least...there is the quarter finished prayer shawl that I began thinking that if I had a prayer shawl wrapped around my shoulders as I knitted I would be more intouch with knitting. This is not to mention the mounds of yarn sitting in baskets all around my room of creation. They inspire me to keep on knitting, yarns are so beautiful in that way.

Beginnings

"To discover, all one really has to do is be open to possiblitilies and act on one's curiosity."

Today I'm opening the possibilities to express one's passion! The passion to create and to be creative in one's daily life. I don't believe that a day should go by, that a person should not see the curiosity in life, the possibilities, the small things that often go unnoticed. If only one were to look - who knows what doors to creativity would open!
